lift command in Singular |

I am working over a ring of fractions and using the lift function for some operations. Due to the nature of my work, I know ideally my result from lift should have just integer coefficients. But I am getting fractions in some cases. How exactly does lift work? Is there a different function I can use, something where it is easier to trace the steps and see how the fractions are being generated?
